Sketch of the Monument to Cervantes. Illustrates the text “Que nos dicen las estatuas (What statues tell us)” by Antonio de Hoyos y Vinent, published in the special edition of Los Contemporàneos, Madrid, issue 418, 19 December 1916. In the drawing for the project submitted by Julio Antonio, Hoyos y Vinent saw what he called the “Age of Chivalry”, “the Mystic”, the Farmer, the Navigator, the Villager and the Conqueror. Cervantes experienced all the grand ideals of the Hispanic village. Text by Antonio Salcedo Miliani
