Heroic and resounding speech

Sketch of the Monument to Cervantes. Illustrates the text “Que nos dicen las estatuas (What statues tell us)” by Antonio de Hoyos y Vinent, published in the special edition of Los Contemporàneos, Madrid, issue 418, 19 December 1916. In the drawing for the project submitted by Julio Antonio, Hoyos y Vinent saw what he called the “Age of Chivalry”, “the Mystic”, the Farmer, the Navigator, the Villager and the Conqueror.
