Italy is the country of many cities and towns, but it is also one of the countries where forests, especially those that run along highways, have lately grown more, asking for a redefinition of their mutual relationship with the built world. The installation Highway to Wilderness, under the replica of one of the most iconic Italian rest areas, showcases a floating territorial model representing the proposal for a new boundary between the city and the wilderness. A densely wooded valley, crossed by a river and cut by a portion of the A7 highway, and seven architectural models of different rest areas are featured. All of them offer different possibilities of reconnecting the wild nature of the Apennine Mountains with the roadway that constitutes the new radial border of the extended Milanese area.
