The larger maintenance workshops kept special "aid trains" ready for use in case of railway accidents. They comprised a locomotive idling under steam coupled to two coaches for carrying the crews and equipment. The "Berlin 19 463" equipment coach had a compartment for civil servants, an area for tools and first-aid kits as well as a room for the crew. Planks and chocks were stored in boxes under the vehicle frame. The main railway workshop in Tempelhof made a model of this coach for the Transport and Building Museum in 1906.
