Men working on Hill 60, of strategic importance during the battles in the Ypres Salient. The elevation was not natural but built up during the construction of the Ypres-Comines railway. The location saw a number of battles, changing hands until the Allies took control after the Battle of Messines in 1917. It is now a memorial site.
