Angela's early works were immensely influenced by her Western education and her father aesthetics, the well-known artist António Xavier Trindade (1870-1935) from whom the artist copied several works, including a portrait of a Hindu Girl, for which she A.X.T. received the Governor's Award in 1930.
Leaning against the wall, with her right hand behind her head and looking directly at the viewer, this young woman does not seem bothered by the intrusion of the portrait. However, as in other representations of women belonging to the Hindu community, the presence of a pot represents her feminine condition and the shawl over her head and shoulders certifies her modesty.
