In 1960, Congress appropriated $200,000 to complete the preliminary research on Ford's Theatre necessary to begin the restoration of the building to its 1865-era appearance. George Olszewski, a National Park Historian, published this 138-page report, based heavily on the Mathew Brady photographs taken immediately after the assassination.
