Kiseru pipes were once indispensable fashion items for men in the Edo period. The rare, large kiseru pipe designed by the great artist, Katsushika Hokusai, was made in silver with a design of nandina meticulously created using gold, gold-copper alloy, coral and other materials. This is a masterpiece of luxury whose collaboration between the artist and the metal craftsman shines through.
