In this piece by Machado de Castro, considered the most renowned Portuguese sculptor and follower of Late Baroque aesthetics, although one might find neoclassical aspects due to political vicissitudes, we can observe an entire work made of detail and delicacy in the shapes and polychromatic mélange of gilding, with latent details of a fad, which redeem it from becoming a representation void of attitude and present as a scenic manifestation, concise and harmonious.
