Originating from the Episcopal Palace of Fontelo, Viseu, this painting represents the figure of the Virgin Mary in the centre, sitting with the Child Jesus in her lap, whom she is feeding with a spoon. A female figure, seen from behind, is holding the dish of food, while St. Joseph observes the Child, holding his hand out to him with two cherries in it. Surrounding this composition is an area of bright light, in which two cherubs can be seen.
