Australian multidisciplinary artist Ian Strange explores the cultural and social impact of the home in various cultures. As part of his participation in Nuart Festival 2017, Strange selected images from his "Target" series of original artworks on found vintage photographs and reproduced them as large-scale billboard interventions throughout the city. In crossing out and mark-making across these tableau visions of the home, Strange challenges preconceptions of such a space being seen as one of safety or security. This opens up a broader conversation about the correlation between the two, in a call back to his larger body of work which evokes a sense of disenfranchisement within the urban environment.
