The Giant Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio homerus OR Pterorus homerus) is the largest butterfly in the western hemisphere and found only in a few locations in Jamaica including the Blue and John Crow Mountains. It is a very dramatic butterfly with slow, wafting flight. The caterpillar feeds on only one locally endemic plant species - the Water Mahoe.
