Two thousand sixteen was the year of many anniversaries in the theatre world in Quebec. MU decided to seize the opportunity to create two new murals that would pay tribute respectively to the founders of the Théâtre de Quat’Sous, which celebrates its 60 years of existence, and to Janine Sutto, who turned 95 years old this year.
Kevin Ledo, an artist renowned for the quality of his portraits, was chosen to recreate Mme Sutto’s portrait on the wall of the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal’s apartment.
The mural is part of the Montreal’s Great Artists collection, which highlights the creative minds and forces who have made outstanding contributions to the local, national and international reach of Montreal’s cultural scene. The murals pay tribute to creators in a variety of artistic disciplines who are either from the city originally, or who have made it their home.
