In 1936, this skull was discovered by a local in Perning, in a conglomerate sand sediment of Pucangan Formation. The skull morphology had not developed completely, indicating an child aged 3-5 years old. The physical aspects clearly shows Homo Erectus characteristics, with protruded temples, a narrowing in the orbital eye area, and a pointy back. A potassium-argon analysis on a sample of pumice stone found near the skull revealed a very old dating around 1.9+ 0.4 million years. Further testing using the argon method gave a dating of 1.81 million years.
