Dance performance by Nigel Jamieson and Garry Stewart, programmed in Holland Festival 2007.
Honour Bound shows both movingly and overwhelmingly what happens when the fear of terrorism gains the upper hand over universal human rights. Honour Bound was inspired by the story of an Australian who was arrested under suspicion of terrorism and has since been held without trial in Guantanamo Bay. Six dancers clad in orange overalls perform Garry Stew¬art’s acrobatic choreography inside a cage on the stage. Their aerial performance through their available space, against walls and in the air is a reference to the vacuum in the international legal system that is Guantanamo Bay. The dance is complemented with images, newsclips and statements from Bush. Honour Bound is, according to the Sunday Herald Sun, everything that theatre can be: ‘Dazzling, passion¬ate, thought-provoking, inspiring and humbling’.
