Hookah is always smoked by men in Haryana. A gathering of men where the hookah is smoked is known as baithak. After filling the chillum with tobacco and coal, the eldest member in the group would draw first and the chillum is always filled by the youngest male member. A room in the house that belongs to the eldest men of the family is also known as baithak in Haryana.
