Ivory carved horn with rich ornamentation organized in several bands representing different hunting scenes and one religious scene depicting a Pietà. This type of pieces was typical of a colonial production, especially made for its exportation to Europe. It was made in Sierra Leone (West Africa) towards 1490-1530 by Sapi artisans. It could have been a commission for the Portuguese royal family since it has their coat of arms.
