A group of people on the beach, dwarfed by the high cliffs. This print is part of "Atlas Historique et Pittoresque", published in 1842-1852 for "Voyages de la Commission Scientifique du Nord" about the French scientific expedition La Recherche (1838–1840).

Hornvika Bay was the ascension place for ships who carried visitors to North Cape before roads were built in the area. Ships would anchor up there and row the visitors to land, where they had to climb a steep mountain path to reach the actual plateau.
