The word Horombo originates from the name of the former Chief of Rombo district (Keni) whose name was Horombo Urio. The reason is to keep the good memory of the chief Horombo . The hut currently has a capacity of 170 beds for tourists and 900beds for guides and porters; therefore total number of people being 1,070 at a time.
