Museo de Arte de Ponce

Museo de Arte de Ponce
Ponce, Puerto Rico

Born in the southern town of Ponce, Puerto Rican painter Miguel Pou y Becerra depicted scenes of everyday life, with special emphasis on color and light. In this work, Pou shows the horse-drawn carriages that could be found his hometown's main plaza until the 1960s. The view is leavened with the flowering of red flamboyant trees, typical to the island's landscape, which frame the view of the cathedral's dome.
