When the Zaragoza City Council acquired them, both this sketch and the previous and following ones were in a precarious state of conservation and had suffered significant losses, specifically most of the extremities, but all of them, however, conserved the rigorous, accurate and delicate anatomical treatment, the formal and expressive purification, the extraordinary and effective materialization of the contained dynamism and, in short, the unmistakable and highly personal Mediterranean and subtly archaizing aftertaste of the classicism practiced by Gargallo, characteristics that they share with the also exceptional horses of Greeting Olympic and , logically, with Caballito, 1927-28, a model of one of them.
