(See what is indicated for Caballo, I, a and Caballo, II, a).
The two Bigas in artificial stone, of which this and the other two models are the first fragmentary antecedent, had reached a worrying state of deterioration, so starting in 1987 they underwent a complete and rigorous process of consolidation, recovery and restoration (including new polyester casting, patinated to imitation bronze), completed in 1989 and made by the sculptor Marta Polo, under strict supervision of the artist's heirs and using the photographic documentation of a historical nature that was preserved. With the return, in 1989, of the two Riders that Gargallo made to flank the Marathon gate and the restoration of the two Bigas, the renovated and expanded Montjuich Olympic Stadium, which finally became such during the summer of 1992, recovered two of its most precious symbols and two heritage elements of great value and significance.
