Left side view of a wooden wheeled model of a galloping race horse with jockey and string pulley. Remains of a number '3' made from Elastoplast on one rear flank. This model is part of a set of racing horses used as deck games aboard Adelaide Steamship Company vessels on their 'Gulf Trips' around South Australian waters between the 1930s and 1950s. A line from the separate winder device was fed through the metal hoop on the horse and winched along in the deckside 'races'. It reflects the sort of entertainment organised by shipping companies for passengers during this era. Race programs were often printed on board the vessels and passengers could also place bets.
