The icon of Hosios Christodoulos, founder of the Monastery, is placed at the iconostasis of his chapel. The work is well preserved, except from a part at its lower end where the colour has been damaged by the kisses of the believers. The scene unfolds on a golden ground. Hosios Christodoulos is depicted in full length and frontally, dressed in a monk's hood and cloak. His right hand is raised in blessing or in a gesture of speech, while with his left he holds an open scroll. At the left and right upper corners of the icon, on the level of the Saint’s head, are depicted in miniature scale and in bust Saint John the Theologian holding a closed book on the left and Saint James carrying a rolled scroll on the right. The framing of the figure of Hosios Christodoulos with the two patron saints, is considered to be related to the icons painted by Andreas Ritzos, a fact that points to the icon’s attribution to the beginning of the 16th century.
