At Rjukan, Hydro was involved in everything from water supply, sewage, roads, churches and a local hospital. The company built schools, a fire station, stores, parks, sports facilities and a library. Between 1907 and 1914 Hydro built 340 housing units in both towns, which were characterized by their distinctive architecture.
