House of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń

The alleged house of Nicolaus Copernicus. This location, i.e. ul. Kopernika 40 (corner of ul. Piekary) was given by Samuel Luther Geret – the last mayor of Toruń before the partitions. The mayor, in order to emphasize the importance of this place, ordered a commemorative monument to be built in front of the house, with the function of a water well, with the form of a globe placed on top.
