Museum of the Sakitama Ancient Burial Mounds
Saitama prefecture , Japan

This house-shaped haniwa is thought to represent a flat-land dwelling. The walls stand vertically, and there are belt-like portions attached to form a lattice. On top of the tall hip roof are three katsuogi, small logs perpendicular to the ridgepole. On the longer sides of the house and on one shorter side, there are rectangular holes that resemble windows and an entrance.
