Extending back to the art of inlay practiced in the Shang dynasty and flourishing in the Eastern Zhou period, individual and combinations of precious metals and turquoise were used in inlays of this period. Along with the great variation in vessel types, it resulted in another peak in the art of bronze casting in China.
