Hucknall Airfield, Nottingham

An airfield was established at Hucknall in 1917 for the Royal Flying Corps. In 1934 Rolls Royce leased two hangars at the airfield, establishing a testing programme for engines and other equipment. In the 1940s, the Merlin Engine and the Dart turboprop engine were tested here.
