Reverse ‘Payable in Bank of Engd. Or Hull Notes by I K Picard’. Notes Picard was a wealthy man who practised as a barrister before entering the family business. He was often in London on business and became friendly with the Prince of Wales’ circle of acquaintances. After gambling heavily for some time he was declared bankrupt in 1827.
