This is the head of a male haniwa with hair on both sides of his head in the mizura style. Part of the head is raised above the other with a horizontal line dividing the top from the bottom; this is thought to depict a rounded cap atop the head. There are small, carved, narrow eyes and a small nose on the nearly spherical face, giving the impression of a child. There are redder portions of the face and neck, but these are thought to represent a type of cosmetics rather than tattoos.
