Saitama prefecture , Japan

This human-shaped haniwa is thought to depict a sitting miko (female shaman) with goreikyō, small, round mirrors with five attached bells each. Around her neck, she wears a beaded necklace represented in clay. She has a Shimada hairstyle (a Japanese women’s chignon-like hairstyle), and there are depictions of a belt and skirt-like clothing around her waist.
