DUAL PURPOSE VESSEL LAUNCHED IN ESSEX February 16th 1960 PAR 82104-1 (PNR-B) Gracefully sliding into the water at Brightlingsea, Essex, is the "Boston Hornet" a dual purpose vessel which fulfills the role of a Near Water/Drifter Trawler. She has been built by James Stone (Brightlingsea) Limited for the Boston Deep Sea Fisheries Limited of Lowestoft, and is thought to be the largest Drifter/Trawler ever to be built on the Essex coast. The vessel has been built to Lloyds 100 A1 Class and has an overall length of 99ft. 9 inches, with a breadth of 22 feet and a moulded depth of 10 feet 6 inches. With a distinctive 'Look Ahead' wheelhouse and a well raked bar stem the vessel is ready to cope with any problem which can be confronted in the fishing industry. The fishing gear is arranged for operation on both the Port and Starboard sides for easy working of the trawl and drifting gear. The vessel is of aluminium alloy which beats the corrosion 'bogey', normally a constant headache for owners of such vessels. Industry - Fishing - Trawlers
