The area to the north of Surur Nagar Road which runs in a horizontal manner where the gardens and Sankesar Market are visible on the map. Many stepwells are evident. Stepwells were developed mainly for the storage purpose especially in the arid regions like Deccan. It was easy for the people to get the access as well as manage the groundwater than with big well and tank. Suroor Nagar was named after Suroor Afza Bai, wife of the Arastu Jah Bahadur, the Prime Minister of the Hyderabad State, who died in 1804. The Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah II granted a jagir at Suroor Nagar, where Arastu Jah Bahadur built a palace and named it as Suroor Nagar after his wife, hence the area came to be called as Surur Nagar.
