The Makta land belongs to Rajeshwar Rao and Zorawar Jang Bahadur, and the garden lies around the Uppugura lane are visible on the map. There was a system of land tenure in the Telangana region, under which the govt land varying in size, either from small holdings to a whole village or group of villages, were given on a fixed rent to bring the new lands under the cultivation. The holder was known as Maktadars, were locally powerful landlords. So, such land obviously was called as Makta land and in due course, came into existence that calling any area part of Makta land with holder names like the Makta Rajeshwar Rao and Makta Zorawar Jang Bahadur as depicted on the map. There are many stepwells identifiable on the map and these are fed by the channel running through the Makta land indicates the arid nature of the region.
