Rochenko's artistic output shows a wide variety of styles throughout his career. Particularly in the Constructivist period, his new morphological language was changing rapidly. His works included in the Kostakis Collection reflect this expressive diversity. In Clown - Pierrot, Rochenko uses the geometrization of Cubism, placing shapes next to each other to create a form.He does not dwell on the aesthetic effect, but is interested in showing the structure of the form and how it is composed with triangles, circles and trapezoids. His colours are strong and do not recall the low colour scale of the cubists. On the other hand, the work is strongly reminiscent of a construction, as it stands three-dimensionally in space, as if floating on the canvas.
It is a study on a costume for Aleksei Gan “Us” performance. The performance was never realised.
