Iberian Votive Offering

End of the 5th century - End of the 3rd century BC

Museo Juan Cabré

Museo Juan Cabré
Calaceite, Spain

Votive offering in the form of an armed warrior. The figure wears a helmet with a neck protector and has two clearly visible braids. The face is well crafted, with a receding forehead; bulging, almond-shaped eyes; an eroded nose; and lips forming a well-defined, expressive mouth. A unique element is the falcata sword hanging diagonally at his waist, where his cloak covers it, taking on its shape. A prominent shield boss hangs on his back, hooked on his right shoulder over his voluminous cloak.
