Born in 1877 Russia, Rostov Nikipore Kulesh was one of the important theatre painters in Georgia. While being recruited in the Army he was sent to serve in Georgia, where he met with several talented painters and decided to stay there. Unfortunately only small amount of his depictions are preserved in Georgia as well as in the Art Palace. His sketches and paintings which were created for Georgian theatre stage, at the end of 19th and in the beginning of 20th century, have special value as they show strong European orientation of the Georgian theatre art.
