This five-piece Cody den furniture set was presented to President Eisenhower in 1954 by members of the Cherry Creek Country Club. In written reply to the each of the presenters Eisenhower stated, "For your part in presenting to me the set of "Cody" furniture, I am deeply grateful. When I described it to Mamie, she instantly said, "It belongs in your den at Gettysburg. You must tell your friends that it is completely perfect for that room." With that kind directive, I hope you will not mind my sending it on East, because I agree with Mamie's evaluation both of the furniture and of the place where it really belongs. I assure you that in that spot it will be with me as long as I can have a home of my own." (letter to Harry M. Anholt General Manager of the Brown Palace Hotel, Denver, Colorado and others 09/22/1954)
