Tissue for packaging bottles of Amaro Sibilla produced by Distilleria Varnelli. Linked to the history and ancient uses of the Benedictine Monks and the Sibillini Mountains from which it takes its name, Amaro Sibilla was invented in 1868 by Girolamo Varnelli, who put his great herbalist experience to good use in order to have a product that was an "anti-malarial and anti fever medicine" for shepherds who were in danger of contracting malaria in the course of transhumance. Even today, this bitter, is made from a decoction over a wood fire of gentian, cinchona and other valuable medicinal plants. It is sweetened exclusively with honey from the Sibillini Mountains and then long decanted and finished in cloth before being bottled. Already awarded in Rome in 1902 and in Turin in 1909, today Amaro Sibilla, because of its historicity and unchanged quality of taste and ingredients, is recognized by expert tasters as one of the absolute excellences in the bitters category.
