António Teixeira Carneiro Júnior was born in Amarante, 1872, and died in Porto, in 1930. Was painter, illustrator, poet and professor of Portuguese. Was the only painter and poet of Portuguese symbolism, exploring spirituality and capturing feelings, garnering the title “Portraitist of Souls”. At the age of 28 he was awarded at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, with the work "The Life" and from there was a succession of awards, both in Europe and in the United States of America.
