Depois de vencer algumas dificuldades, os portugueses deixam Calicut, iniciando a viagem de regresso à pátria. Vénus decide preparar uma recompensa para os marinheiros, fazendo-os chegar a Ilha dos Amores. Para isso, Vénus mandou seu filho Cupido lançar flechas de amor às ninfas, que receberão os marinheiros portugueses loucamente apaixonadas por eles. Os artistas descreveram esta cena com a deusa do amor que envia a frota para Ilha dos Amores e à direita uma ninfa à espera dos marinheiros.
