The Guide of Southland Carpathian-Association, Timisoara, 1894, Inv. Number A 1.457
There are several gift books in the collection of Mór Jókai’s library, which were bound in a unique way in tribute of the “writer king”. The Carpathian-Association of Southern Hungary got its almanach bound in a decorative style with unique colour illustrations and gave it to Jókai on the occasion of the golden jubilee (50 year) of the author’s writing career. The volume presents the sights of the southern highlands of the Carpathians in Middle Europe. It is not just a guide, but a travel book about the region, where Jókai travelled a lot, which reads very well. The leather bound book has a false rib back spine, the cover and the spine is gilded. Interestingly, there is a unique graphic board in the picture, which originates from the workshop of Nándor Jauernik typographer. This copy was signed by the members of the Association’s directorate.
Délvidéki Kárpát-Egyesület kalauza, Temesvár, 1894 Ltsz. A 1.457
Jókai Mór írói könyvtárának gyűjteménye számos ajándékkönyvet tartalmaz, melyek a magyar „írófejedelem” előtti tisztelgés jegyében készített unikális kötészeti példányok. A Délvidéki Kárpát-Egyesület évkönyvét díszkötésben és egyedi színes táblás illusztrációval készíttette el és ajándékozta Jókainak 1894-ben, írói munkásságának ötvenéves jubileuma alkalmából. A kötet a Közép-európai Kárpát medencét körülölelő hegykoszorú déli hegyvidékének látnivalóit mutatja be, nem csak Baedecker, hanem élményszerű útleírás arról a vidékről, melyen Jókai is sokat utazott. A könyv álbordázott bőrkötésű, gerinc- és fedélaranyozással. A kiadvány érdekessége a képen látható egyedi rajzos tábla, mely Jauernik Nándor nyomdász műhelyéből származik. A példányt az Egyesület elöljárósága (igazgatóságának) Tagjai dedikálták.
