An illustrated composition of the features that can be seen on the facade of Daulat Villa in the predominantly residential neighbourhood of Matunga in South Mumbai.
Here, the circular stained-glass that reads ‘Daulat Villa’ in Gujarati, eclipses many of the building’s other adornments. Nestled in a ring of red and green zig-zags, the name proudly arches over a rising sun with blue-yellow rays. Its circularity pays homage to porthole windows while the three red, vertical racing bands are also unmistakably Deco.
