This album depicts the six-stage proceedings of Crown Prince Hyomyeong, son of King Sunjo of Joseon Dynasty entering the National Confucian Academy at the age of eight. Starting with the scene “Departure from the Palace”to head to the State Shrine of Confucius, the “Wine-offering Rite”to honor Confucius by offering rice-wine to his spirit tablet follows,, and the Crown Prince requesting an instruction from his teacher at “Arrival Ceremony” are depicted. The scene of the Crown Prince paying homage to the teachers by offering gifts after gaining admission in the “Presentation of Food and Cloth”ceremony is then followed. The remaining scenes are composed of “Initiation”describing the Crown Prince receiving lectures and “Receiving Congratulations”representing the Crown Prince being congratulated from the subjects in his classroom at Changdeokgung Palace on the following day after “Initiation”.
