Imitation game is an interactive composition for human and robotic percussionist exploring decision-making processes in the context of composed, scenario-based interaction. The composition is based on a dynamic rather than a fixed form, shaped by decisions made by the musician and the computer in real-time. Using a Neural Network trained to recognize different instruments and playing techniques as a main auditory processing unit, the robotic percussionist makes short- and long-term decisions based on metrics of rhythmic, timbral, and dynamic contrast. The score of the piece is non-linear, enabling the musician to adapt to and interact with the robotic percussionist in real-time.

Percussion: Manuel Alcaraz Clemente
