Immaculate Conception

A preparatory study for the upper section of the large altarpiece representing The Immaculate Conception with the Prophet Elijah painted for the left-hand chapel in the church of the Carmine in Turin. The painting was the dono d’ingresso (reception piece) presented by the artist following his election to the Academy in 1740.
