In this satirical article from 1934's Vanity Fair, Martha Graham and burlesque star Sally Rand engage in an "Impossible Interview" where the two divas square off as they share the stage. The artist, Miguel Covarrubias, was a Mexican painter, caricaturist, illustrator, ethnologist and art historian. His "Impossible Interviews" illustrations would portray two opposing contemporaries in a situation they most likely would never be found in. Other series included Sigmund Freud vs. Jean Harlow and John D. Rockefeller Sr. vs. Joseph Stalin.
