When the uncertainties started with lockdown, Azza Al Qubaisi wanted to continue her practice through material experimentation to capture how she was feeling. The stages from dry to wet mix to a solid form represented transition and the change; never returning to the norm we knew before. Using protective gloves as a mold presented the changes affecting our daily life; the worries of the virus, new rules, and the compulsory wearing of gloves and masks. The stack of hands captures the solidarity that unites us facing the pandemic. The pressure of the glove mold against the Gargur (traditional fishing trap) resulted in an imprint, representing the first line defence; the frontline workers who left their families to protect our communities.
