Description: At the end of the nineteenth century, the Parisian worlds of finance and art were close neighbors, since the art dealers were grouped around rue Laffitte, just a few steps away from the business quarter. However, their links were often more than merely geographical, since many bankers prided themselves on their talents as collectors of fine art. These men became a preferred subject for artists like Degas and then Forain, who dedicated their art to depicting the fascinating world around them.
