This still life of 1997 served two purposes for Eileen. First, by adding a few holiday touches (which she later removed), she had it reproduced for her Christmas card that year. Second, it documents a scant number of her studio staples. These include the blue and white pitcher holding her brushes. Though she had many brushes at her fingertips, she was most comfortable and fluent with the wide one, using its slender edge for finer details and easily manipulating the brush to her needs. A motto in blue on the wall sums up Eileen's thoughts about painting: 'Dance to your own tune. Adhere to your style."
